12 Hours in Florence

This past weekend we took a day trip up to Florence. We hopped on one of the numerous high speed trains that shuttle people back and forth from Rome to Florence, which is only an hour and a half ride, so not too long. I took advantage of this time to catch up on my Italian on my favorite app, Duolingo. See more ways on how I study Italian here. Although Florence is quite a beautiful city, the non-stop rain and cold weather that we encountered made it difficult to fully take in the wonderful sights the city has to offer (check out video on my YouTube channel here or by clicking on the video below).

We received a good bit of recommendations on what to do in Florence from our well-traveled friends in Rome. Since it was our first time in Florence (and first time north of Rome overall!) we wouldn’t have known what were the good spots to check out had we not received recommendations.

This is Twenty-SevenĀ 


27. Not the most exciting birthday milestone, however,  I can’t help but to wake up feeling so thankful and blessed to be living another day.

Recently the news has been full of unfortunate life events happening and I feel it’s important to take a moment to realize how fortunate I am to still be on this earth and experience my 27th birthday with the people I love most.

I am currently in Pennsylvania with my second family (aka my boyfriends family). It seems like it was just yesterday that I was bringing in my late twenties in Italy, stuffing my face with pasta and wine exactly a year ago.
