If you are feeling the same way I am about this Winter season…then you are just as over it as I am. We have been dealing with some pretty bizarre weather here in Rome this year, and I’m ready to see the first signs of Spring already. With the change of seasons however, also comes the change of wardrobe, makeup, and even skincare.
Depending on where you live, the change in seasons may not be as drastic. But for those of us living in cities that experience seasons, our skin definitely feels the change.
Below, I want to share with you the best skincare products to use for the Spring season. Spring officially starts Wednesday, March 21st, so it’s not too early to get these skincare products in stock for the upcoming change of seasons.
Let’s start with face scrubs:
A scrub should be in your beauty arsenal, no matter what. You should always aim to scrub your face at least once a week to get rid of rough, dry patches and dead skin. Often times when your makeup looks “cakey”, it’s because your skin is in need of a good scrub!
Give this one a try which is packed with coconut oil and avocado butter, which will help get rid of that dry, Winter skin. Plus, it smells of ocean salt and lime…margaritas anyone?
If you want to try your own DIY face scrub option, mix equal parts coconut oil and ground coffee! Easy and effective. For the full tutorial on this, check out this video.
Face masks should also be part of your weekly skincare ritual. With the weather temperature slowly increasing, it’s more likely that your skin will probably get more oily as the season creeps closer to Summer. That is why I love using this mask at home. It’s a deep pore cleansing clay mask which helps keep any acne at bay and also helps dry up any oil in my t-zone.
You may also want to put this mask in your checkout basket. Summer Fridays, a new skincare brand started by Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores, just launched with their first product, the Jet Lag Mask which helps hydrate and soothe thirsty, stressed-out skin by steeping cells in a nourishing mix of vitamins, ceramides, antioxidants and gently exfoliating extracts.
Next step are the cleansers:
I have combination skin and have personally tried the Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser and loved it, especially because the texture is not very thick, so it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. I’ve also heard great reviews on Fresh Soy Face Cleanser which is good for all skin types and I hope to get my hands on next.
Let’s not forget about the eye area which is the thinnest and most delicate part of your face. I’ve been using eye creams since my early 20’s, and don’t see where I’ll be taking a break from this step as I’m only growing older. One that I have been loving as of lately is the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado because it’s not too heavy on the skin and dries very quickly, perfect for those warmer Spring days.
If you are able to splurge a little more and want something to help firm the area around the eyes with some much needed peptides and vitamin C, then the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream could be a good option for you!
The final skincare product I’ll mention are moisturizers. There are so many moisturizers out there, how do you know which are the best ones? With the change of seasons, it’s best to let go of the thick, heavy body butters and ultra-rich facial creams, instead opt for a moisturizer that will let your skin breathe a little bit more. The Tatcha Water Cream is a great place to start for something that’s hydrating, yet not too thick or heavy on the skin and perfect for all skin types.
In addition to the Tatcha Water Cream mentioned above, I would also recommend the Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb which was also mentioned in my 2017 Holiday Gift Guide under beauty. It’s ultra-lightweight and instantly cools and refreshes skin, while still hydrating, as soon as it’s applied.
Have you tried any of the above products? If so, how do you like them? If you have any skincare products you would recommend, comment below so we can all add them to our wishlist!
All my love,
