Whenever I am visiting a new city (or even an old one) I like to wander about and discover new places, seek out the “hole in the wall” spots, in addition to the touristy attractions. But rather than follow a mob of people in a group, I prefer the idea of going at my own pace in case I want to stop along the way to snap a few pictures or grab a bite to eat.
With the GPSMyCity app, it will allow you to do just that. Browse a city at your own pace all while being “guided” to the best spots. It’s almost like having your own personal tour guide without the rush and feeling like you need to be a part of a tour group. I discovered the GPSMyCity app last year and was so excited to find so many cities to choose from (over 600 cities)!
The best part about the app is that it can be used without WiFi, meaning you don’t have to burn up your data (if traveling in a different country) to use the app. Here is how easy it is to get started:
- Download the app on your phone or iPad on the App store or Google play.
- Choose the city or travel article you would like and download (for free) directly to your phone to use offline. You can even choose to pay for the upgrade which also includes step by step directions from the guide on arriving to your next destination on the map using GPS tracking on your phone.
- Enjoy the tour at your own pace and take in all the wonderful sights the city has to offer. The great thing about the app is that if you aren’t able to finish the whole guide in one day, you can pick up right where you left off the following day.
Although the concept of travel article apps is still pretty new, it’s a great way to get to know a city without feeling rushed or getting lost. Over the past year GPSMyCity has come in handy for us to enjoy “guided tours” in Barcelona and even in our ‘home’ town Rome.
As highlighted in the title of this post, I am happy to announce that 2 of my travel articles are now downloadable guides on the app! You will now be able to find my Four Nights in Paris post on the app here and my Rome City Guide available here to download next time you are visiting these cities or if you live there. To search for these guides on your iPhone or Android, under the search option on the app look up “Diverse Restaurants in Paris and Things to See” and “Where to Shop, Eat and What to Do in Rome” or simply look for these titles under the corresponding city.
During this first week only, GPSMyCity is kind enough to offer my readers a FREE upgrade to my Rome City Guide article, which will be available from (June 13, 2017) to (June 20, 2017). You can download it on your phone now and save it for when you visit. 🙂
Have you tried GPSMyCity before? If so, how do you like it? Let me know if you give it a try in whichever city you are in. Chances are it is available there since they have over 750+ cities to choose from!
