Top 10 Blog Posts of 2016

La Casabloga Tools

As we are in the midst of wrapping up another year, I am taking a moment to reflect on the past year and the whirlwind of change and emotions it has left me with. I think it’s safe to say, that 2016 has outdone any year in my past as far as change, risk-taking, and starting a new chapter in my life are considered. The last time I can remember going through something similar was in 2012, when I packed my car to leave my hometown of Charleston to live in Miami, FL. And even then, that seems like such a tiny blip on the radar compared to now, living in Rome, Italy of all places.

Thankfully I have my blog to document all of my trials and tribulations, successes and failures, and everything else in between. In the year, 2016, I wrote 47 total blog posts, which is about 4 a month. I am quite happy and proud of myself for being consistent and posting at least once a week since consistency is something I have struggled with previously. So, in honor of that, I have rounded up my top 10 blog posts of the year and here they are:

10. Three Months in Italy: Week Recap-Lifestyle/Travel

After having lived in Rome for 90 days up to that point, I decided to update the blog with a quick progress report of how everything was going. We shot some photos at the Giardino degli Aranci in this post, which is absolutely breathtaking, especially around sunset. Check out the full post here.

9. How I Stay Active Living Overseas-Fitness/Health

Living overseas has been quite challenging as far as mainting my fitness game but in this post I finally figured out a way to stay active, even without a gym membership. Using Fit and Thick’s subscription service that literally lays out my daily workouts in the palm of the hand, it has never been easier. Read more about my experience with this workout program here.

8. My Post-Grad Education in Miami-Lifestyle

I left Miami after calling it home for 4 years on May 20, 2016. In this post, I reflect back on my favorite memories of Miami, and how it helped educate and shape me into the person I am today. It was my first home away from home, with no family nearby, I was completely on my own and learned to survive and be independent in one of the biggest cities in the United States. Read more about my Miami story here.

7. Festive Music Festival Outfits-Style/Fashion

I created this look book specifically during the Spring season for all the music festivals happening around that time, such as Coachella. I had so much fun putting together these outfits with items I already had in my closet that I thought would be perfect for dancing the night away at a music festival. 6. Fit & Thick x Unapologethick Crop Tops-Style/Fashion

Fit and Thick Skirt

The Fit & Thick fam in Miami Florida is a positive body movement that is taking over the South Florida fitness world by storm. I am still a huge supporter and fan of their purpose and message, and also love their workout wear which I styled into 3 different outfits. See how I styled them here.

5. Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without-Beauty

Beauty Product Must-Haves

Since minimizing down my beauty essentials, I mentioned some basic items that I was absolutely loving earlier this year, which you can read more about here. In the above picture, I am wearing all of the items I mentioned including an eyeliner, eye shadow, eye primer, blush, and lip gloss. The look, in my opinion, is overall pretty natural, with the exception of the lips. I like to keep it this way. What do you think?

4. How My Life Has Changed Since Moving Abroad-Lifestyle/Travel

You know how I mentioned in the beginning of this post that this year has been a great deal of change for me? Well, this post explains a lot of the reasoning behind that. If you didn’t already know, Jared and I are taking a year away from the hustle and bustle of American life to live in Rome, Italy. So far we are 6 months in. Read more about our time in Italy here.

3. My One Year Blogaversary-Lifestyle

My one year blogaversary was on November 12th. I decided to dedicate one entire post to celebrate this milestone. It may not seem like such a big accomplishment to some but to be able to upkeep a blog with photos, interesting topics, and writing sure does take up a lot of time. As a matter of fact, the first blog I started 3 years ago didn’t even last one whole year so to see La Casabloga grow and flourish into what it is today, has made me awfully proud. Check out my post on La Casabloga turning one here.

2. Fit & Thick with Nicole Mejia-Fitness/Health

Fit&Thick with Nicole Mejia

I was so excited and happy to be collaborating with powerhouse fitness model Nicole Mejia and her Fit & Thick team earlier this year on my blog. The Fit & Thick team invited me to come check out a workout class with them and write a review of my experience on my blog, which I did. I honestly would have loved to continue going to their classes had I still lived in Miami, but I will definitely pay them a visit the next time I’m in the Sunshine State. Check out my sweat session experience here.

1. “Fall”ing for Italy-Lifestyle

The beginnings of a new season in Rome and approaching my one year blogaversary all in one post as well as celebrating little victories, because that’s what life is all about. At this time, we were only living in Rome for about 2 months, still babies in a foreign country in the grand scheme of things. We still have a lot to learn and a long way to get there. Check out more on this post here.

Well, there you have it folks. The top 10 blog posts of 2016. I hope 2017 will be even bigger and better with even more exciting surprises in store. What are your plans for Christmas and New Years? Jared and I will have a very Roman Christmas here in Italy this year and will be with our families stateside in spirit.

All my love,
