My Winter Uniform + The Acqueducts

This past weekend we went to visit a place that has been on our list for some time now, The Acquedotto Romano. The Roman Acqueducts were originally constructed to bring water from sources back into homes and fountains many, many years ago. We originally found out about the Acqueducts when it appeared in a very popular Italian movie we watched, La Grande Bellezza.

As you can see in the pictures, the Acqueducts are still being preserved whilst some areas are slowing falling apart. Isn’t it crazy to think that the longer we wait to visit such historical monuments, the less and less of it we will actually see? The Acqueducts are located Southeast of the city center. You can easily arrive there by taking the A-line metro to the Subaugusta stop.

I was gifted this long, black trench by our host mom. It was given to me at just the right time because I felt that the outerwear I have isn’t warm enough for the winter weather here. Lately I’ve stopped putting so much effort into my wardrobe and what I tend to go with is to just keep it as simple as possible. After all, the beauty is in my surroundings (Rome)…and that is the main focus.

I also recently got this black, long-sleeve turtleneck from Brandy Melville which I figured would be a perfect staple piece. Also, since my black flats were giving out on me, I got some all-black, high top Chuck Taylors because again…classic. So yeah, I guess you can say, the all black theme isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. You can consider this look to be my classic winter uniform.

I can’t believe we are approaching our 6th month of living in Rome. It’s a bit harder being away from family during this time of the year, but the best part is I know they will welcome us back with open arms…whenever that day comes.

All my love,

Lol, I think it will take some time to reach the “real” Roman status, but thanks! It’s so refreshing to be out there in a large field of grass with very few people, you know most attractions in Rome are quite the opposite so it was a nice change in scenery.
