My One Year Blogaversary

It’s been one whole year since I published my first blog post on A whole 365 days, 52 weeks, 8,765 hours has gone by…however way you want to look at it. So much has changed for me over this past year. If you have been keeping up with me via my blog, YouTube channel, Facebook, or Instagram, you probably know what major life changes I’m talking about.

Being the introvert that I am, I was very hesitant, at first, about putting my life online. Sharing with others my experience, thoughts, and who I am for fear of being judged. But, as I get older, I realize what things are more important to me and what I find joyful in life and that includes sharing my life with all of YOU, regardless of what others may think and say.

Today, I look back on my first year of blogging and share with you the highlights, memorable posts, and times that make me smile. This space I created is a place to connect, relate, and interact with each other as I hope to do. Writing has grown to be one of my biggest passions, alongside photography, style, beauty, travel…hence why this blog was created in the first place.

So without further adeau, let’s get into the highlight’s of La Casabloga’s 1st Birthday, shall we?

There’s nothing like looking back at your very firstΒ post and thinking of all the things you could have done better. At the time, we didn’t have a fancy DSLR or point and shoot camera to work with. So we simply had to work with what we had, which was the Sony Camcorder we used for video. I think it’s safe to say our photography has certainly improved since then, and hopefully my writing has as well. To time travel a year back to that first post, click here.

My very first blog post shoot.

My very first collaboration on my blog was with fashion and lifestyle blogger, Keri, who is based in Philadelphia. I was so excited to team up with her because I am a huge fan of her blog, and Instagram. To see our fashion related collaboration, click here.

I also had the opportunity to collaborate with Fit and Thick on my blog. I was so excited to have been invited to one of their workout classes and write a review on my experience. The girls were all so nice and welcoming. I have been a fan and follower of Nicole’s for such a long time and having met her was such a humbling experience for me considering all of her success to date. Saying goodbye to home in South Florida after 4 years was one of my most emotional posts. I had a lot of good memories there, but also some tough times as well. I liked to think of this time in my life as a “post-graduation” period after college where I learned to fend for myself in a new city on my own and learn to be “street smart” after so many years of living with or within 10 minutes of my family. It was a good way for me to grow up, be responsible, and truly enjoy life. As much as I love my family, there is really nothing like being on my own in a big city as it is truly liberating. A photo I took for my first blog I started 3 years ago.

And then there’s the time when Jared and I moved to the other side of the world. Do you remember that? July 6, 2016. We’re crazy kids I know. This is by far, the biggest life change I have ever had to do. How do you just leave behind everything you have known for the past 27 years to start somewhere new? For us, it was and still is quite an adventure and experience as we are embarking on being Italian residents for almost 5 months now. To check out my 3 week perspective of living abroad, click here.

Hope you enjoyed this rather longer post than usual. It’s different from the other posts I normally do, but just wanted to reflect back on this wonderful year and the blessings I have been given to share my voice online that has made me connect with people all over the world that I otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to talk to.

Also, a VERY SPECIAL shout-out to my #1 fan and supporter who has been with me since day 1 and also shoots all of my pictures. I certainly couldn’t have done it without ya!

Congrats! I like how you went through all your posts from most commented to most viewed, etc. Crazy how far you’ve come in one year! I totally get being shy and not in to sharing your life online. That’s actually why I started my blog. To get out of my comfort zone. I always though it was weird how shy and private I was, but turns out there are a lot of us! Anyway, congrats and here’s to many more posts. πŸ˜‰

Lol, yep it is very true. The internet and social media makes it really easy for introverts like us to have a voice, which I think is really cool and sometimes even make it into a little business. Thanks Emily, so glad that you were able to be a part of my first year blogging also!
