I recently finished The Sweet Life by Dulce Candy Ruiz. Dulce Candy is a YouTube star and beauty guru based in Los Angeles, California. Her book, The Sweet Life, is about her journey and life story of finding her own happiness and success.

In the book, she writes about her life lessons that can pertain to anyone’s situation and the difficulties she overcame in order to become the successful owner and entrepreneur of her Dulce Candy brand. I was fortunate enough to attend her first stop of The Sweet Life book tour in Coral Gables, FL and meet her. I was pleasantly surprised to witness how down to earth and humble she is despite all of her success!

The book is a complete biography of Dulce’s life; from the lows to the highs. She starts off with the brave story of her family illegally crossing the Mexican border to re-unite with her father in America. Throughout my read, I really appreciated Dulce’s complete honesty with us about her own self-doubts. After completing high school, she joined the US Army to turn her life around and in the military was where she found her passion of makeup and fashion. During the 3 years she served, she was able to gain discipline, confidence, and find herself, even when she was deployed thousands of miles away in Iraq.

The real life examples given in this book can apply to anyone, whether you know who Dulce is or not.The many life lessons she has learned are similar to the obstacles most people encounter day to day. It was an inspirational read for me and although we live completely different lives, I will still able to relate with her as my parents also migrated here to provide a better life for our family.

If you haven’t read her book, I definitely recommend you check it out. For those of you that have, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Hasta luego,
Estrella
